A member of Honoka’s former unit, the 42nd Company, Heartstopper Aria Hawthorne is widely known as a soft-spoken and good-natured girl. Many say her title isn’t for her fearsome combat skills (though she’s a competent soldier all the same), but for the adoration of those around her. It’s this reputation that made it all the more devastating when those in the 42nd heard that the famed Koizumi Honoka, her roommate and until then good friend, had been bullying her in secret. While the military rarely takes a stand in interpersonal conflicts, an exception was made on account of Aria’s vulnerable nature– a threat to her personal well-being couldn’t be tolerated. Honoka was transferred to the infamous 113th Company, and her Blademaster inheritance rights were stripped until she has shown remorse for her crimes. Despite their history, however, Aria still makes an effort to keep in touch with Honoka, even though the Backstriker rarely, if ever, responds to the olive branch being extended to her. Still, the Heartstopper is determined to keep their contact alive in the name of the friendship they once shared– just another sign of her unending kindness.
