Discharged from the Vuurstahlan military for cowardice, Bombtosser Reynard Kohler was slated to be assigned to the “Bomb Squad”-- the pejorative term for a class of Novelty once used in the military, with explosives lining their bodies for surprise attacks. Fortunately for him, before he could be properly assigned, the Heartbreaker trial led to the disbandment of the Novelty class, and he was reluctantly released after serving a prison sentence instead. Unable to hold a steady job with the accusation of cowardice hanging over him, however, he lived a while drifting from place to place before he was finally offered a place in Amalia's scavengers, where he can put his previous experience with explosives to good use… though he’s still usually first to run if things take a turn for the worse.
