Formerly Military-class, Scrapraider Amalia Capello applied for transfer after her entire squadron was devastated in the War of Fire, leaving her with trauma deep enough that she couldn’t stand to be on the battlefield again. Though nominally Service-class, Amalia’s current job is closer to Labor-class, scavenging the ruins of old battlefields for usable materials. The Empire turns a blind eye to the questionable legality of her business; they rely on scavenged technology too much to formally crack down on scavenging. Though Amalia’s crew is far from the best there is in the scavenging business, all people who for one reason or another struggle to integrate in society, underneath her constant barbs and irritation with her coworkers is something approaching camaraderie. While she still wouldn’t hesitate to leave any of them behind if it meant making it home again, in the time they’ve got together, she’s secretly glad to be giving people in hard times a place they can fit in.
