Soulrender Emil Taggart is the widely-known bastard daughter of the Riftmaker family, current heads of Magnum Opus Interstellar. Perhaps due to her status, rather than playing a part in the fight for succession for the Riftmaker title, Emil is instead in the Military-class, under the command of Wallclimber Russel Swanson. Though she is quick to throw the weight of her family name around, the very picture of a spoiled heiress (she is, in fact, the only soldier in her company to have brought in a maidservant) come to show her family’s power to the world, her position in the poorly-reputed 113th Company suggests a darker meaning to her Assignment.
