DHIYED (Tempestas)

From The Spiraling Nexus Wiki
A visual manifestation of DHIYED's constantly-shifting form.

The eidolon that resides beneath the hot spot below Paracelsus, DHIYED is a powerful entity of pure creation magic. Though little is known of where it came from, DHIYED demonstrated more capacity for magic than any registered eidolon in Maris Tranquillitas's Rationarium Supermundae[1], with the engineers of Paracelsus using fragments of its power to develop the Dusk Wing and Rosy Maple frames. Former director Caelia Lucillus used its power to initiate the Apotheosis Incident, where the people of Paracelsus, along with the 13th Imperial Company and Smith-Shimano Corpro's own Crisis Response Team, were fused with the experimental frames within the facility to advance human evolution. Despite its association with such a monstrous affair, however, DHIYED itself is an entity entirely without malice or cruel intent; it is a being whose entire existence is to create and change, its own tendencies exploited by Caelia to her own ends in a misguided belief of what DHIYED wanted from her.[2]

Only one person has beheld DHIYED's true form inside the plane of creation, an evershifting mass of materials and body parts with a singular eye at its core.[3]

After meeting with Starcutter Alruna Falki of the 113th Imperial Company in its plane of creation, DHIYED realized that its impression of humanity's desires was tinged by Caelia's own twisted views of the world.[4] Eye opened to its own lack of understanding, DHIYED has temporarily withdrawn from Paracelsus as it reconsiders its relationship with the material plane, though its powers are still available to the SSC frames that bear its fragments.[5]

  1. What we have found we have tentatively labeled Unknown Arcane Entity 07 (designation “DHIYED”.) UAE-07 appears to be a manifestation of the eidolons of old– summoned creatures made of pure magic, but the name DHIYED is unregistered in the Rationarium Supermundae (Paracelsus Bestiary, 1/4/2024)
  2. DHIYED is the heart of this island. DHIYED is what has been calling to us– to me. The Dusk Wing has been granted but a portion of its power– perhaps a gift for us, its chosen ones. If we could tap into that energy more directly, more efficiently, we might be able to take hold of the full power of its gifts. (Paracelsus Bestiary, 1/4/2024)
  3. [...]and suddenly, she's floating in a white sea of magic. She can feel whispers in the energy around her, curious entities watching her from a distance. Before her is a massive entity, a mass of ever-shifting shape. She can see trees, claws, fangs, fur, metal-- all matter of objects flashing across its surface as it examines her inquisitively. She can feel the humming inside her, but it's not the same painful, invasive hum as before. The entity is not forcing itself upon her-- it is speaking with her. Though she's never met it before, she knows its name.
DHIYED waits for her response. (Mission Log, 1/13/2024)
  4. She can feel DHIYED's confusion. Caelia had been so thrilled by its gift. Is that not what humanity wants?
"...It's not what I want," she says. "Humanity will right its own wrongs by itself. That's all we deserve." (Mission Log, 1/13/2024)
  5. DHIYED's dissapointment hangs in the air, but also its understanding of her decision. It is aware of the Dusk Wing's existence, and its sister frame. There is always time to change her mind, but for now, it will withdraw its presence to let the island heal. (Mission Log, 1/13/2024)
