“ | The people of this island were failures, but failure is just a part of the engineering process. Once I've perfected it... I never intended to keep this power all to myself. All I have ever wanted was the betterment of our species. | ” |
—Caelia[1] |
Caelia Lucillus is the former director of the Paracelsus research facility, personally appointed by Genestitcher Livia Escelius due to her talents in creation magic.[2] Already having a fairly twisted sense of morality due to her research in the perfection of the human form, exposure to the Paracelsus hot spot and the eidolon lurking beneath turned her idiosyncrasies into obsession.[3] This culminated in the creation of Apotheosis, a modified Dusk Wing created to channel the hot spot's power to enable instant and complete rewrites of any matter. Her plan to reshape all of humanity in her ideal image was foiled when the 113th Imperial Company, aided by Solus Internus, stormed the facility and reversed her magicks, closing the hot spot in the process.
Caelia abdicated the position at Sieghild’s direction after claiming full responsibility for the Apotheosis Incident.[4] In penance, she has been forced into a position as technician for the 113th Company, where the Empire can keep a close eye on her to prevent her from repeating the same mistakes. With her new Imperial position comes a new title– the Formshaper, a constant reminder of the circumstances that brought her where she is now. Though the full truth of the Apotheosis Incident has been kept quiet by the Empire and Smith-Shimano Corpro, she's shunned by many of the other technicians for her non-imperial heritage and magical background.

- ↑ After all these years of work, I’ve finally done it. Chairman Escelius personally confirmed it this morning. This island– all its secrets, all its potential, at my disposal. Just thinking of the advancements I could guide us to… Paracelsus has long been underutilized for what it is. We could truly change the world here, if people would only listen– and now, they will. (Caelia's Journal, 1/3/2024)
- ↑ It happened again… that nagging dream. Lost in the fog. All I can hear– no, not quite hear; feel?– is that humming. Louder, this time. Too loud to ignore. What does it mean? A premonition? A calling? It’s almost… beckoning me. As if, even after everything we’ve accomplished, it’s not enough. No, I know it isn’t enough. I could do so much more for humanity. Maybe I just hadn’t realized it yet. But what is the next step from here? (Caelia's Journal, 1/3/2024)
- ↑ "Then what you're going to do is this. You are going to show us these resources and equipment you can give us. You are going to come quietly when we leave. And when we move to hand you over to the Genestitcher, you will tell her you do not wish to return. You want to stay with us, to monitor Bowen, to make up for the crimes you have committed. If she insists, you will throw yourself at our feet and beg for the Empire's mercy. You will assist us in caring for our sick, our wounded, and you will give those of us who ask for it the training to harness their magic. You will become a member of our unit, under Ensign Bowen Stark, and you will serve under his command by your choice, benefitting the Empire and us." Sieghild pauses, then says. "Or, you can choose not to do this, in which case Ezra will beat you to death, right here. Does that sound acceptable?" (Mission Log, 1/13/2024)
