—Starfall[1] |
Originally a Cambiel-Class Engel known as DI-02, Starfall was one of the first Mondboren to attain sentience. Like most of her kind, she was sickened by her role in the War of Fire, but rather than isolate herself as the others did, she took advantage of her spaceworthy alternate mode to fly around Tempestas, taking in human media from around the world in an effort to understand them, and the Mondboren’s relationship with them.[2] It was human media that introduced DI-02 to the concept of gender, and she found that the idea of womanhood was comforting to her.
Due to her affinity for human media, Starfall has become sympathetic to humanity, and opposed to the recent motions by the Mondboren to declare war on the Vuurstahl Empire as a result.[3] Though most of her family rejects her belief in their potential, she’s still allowed to act as she wishes, no Mondboren wanting to infringe on another’s freedom.[4] As a result, she has taken to the job of Mond-watching for the Empire ever since news of its reactivation reached them, doing her best to keep people safe from her wayward siblings. She only takes breaks to continue her search for her lost sibling, Moonlight, who seems to have disappeared under unknown circumstances a decade ago.[5]

- ↑ Starfall nods, looking down at Ezra with a warm glow in her visor. "I do. Everything I've seen of your culture from the internet..." She pauses a moment before continuing. "...Most of what I've seen of your culture from the internet, from your media, has been incredible. I could spend the next millennium exploring as much of your world as I can and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what it means to be human." (Shore Leave 2, 8/27/2024)
- ↑ "...I'm not helping Vuurstahl," Starfall replies after a moment, and her gaze goes to the burning factories around them. "Or at least, I don't think of it that way. But the others have been stuck up there for so long in isolation that they're making decisions I just can't agree with. I know it's a privilege that I've been able to spend so much time around Tempestas, soaking up your culture, your media, your human connections, but... I don't want them to destroy that. I don't want it for humanity, and I don't want them to have any more blood on their hands." (Mission Log, 6/27/2024)
- ↑ "That sucks," Starfall replies, shaking her head sadly. "We really value being able to choose who you want to be on the Mond. That's the entire reason why I'm allowed to do things like come here, even if it's against my family's wishes-- even if they don't agree with how we live our lives in the HCC, the last thing they want to do is control us. That would break the promises we made." (Shore Leave 2, 8/15/2024)
- ↑ Starfall startles. "Yeah...? Moonlight was a friend of mine. They had a much bigger ship than mine, but... they disappeared a long time ago. I don't know where they are now." (Mission Log, 1/1/2024)
