A barista working at the Apfel coffehouse, Drinkspiller Viola Harper is Tivlukian by birth, born and raised in the settlement of Lanze at the border of Tivluk and Vruikt Barr. Unfortunately, as the corruption of the Mond's attack spread further and further out, Lanze was caught in the crossfire of stray Engel patrols. The town was razed to the ground by the attack, but thanks to the sacrifice of Bloodspiller Kallista Cornett, Viola managed to survive, short an arm but otherwise safe. In the aftermath, however, she struggled to find a permanent home, the people of Tivluk lashing out at her in frustration for being the only one to escape the attack, when so many of their friends and family did not. Eventually, she wound up shipped to the Imperial core, in an attempt to find someone who would be able to raise her.
Hope came in the form of Beangrinder Genjuro Koizumi, the manager of Apfel, who agreed to take the young Viola under his wing. He became both a mentor and a father figure to her, teaching her both the ways of the barista and also, to everyone's confusion, mixed martial arts. When she finally came of age for assignment, the manager fought tooth and nail to have her assigned to his shop, where he could continue to watch over her and keep her safe. He was successful, and now, the Drinkspiller is known for her bright smile, clumsy nature, and a worryingly straightforward method of settling customer disputes. Those that know her past find it hard to reconcile with the cheerful girl they see today, but she shrugs off their concern with her simple catchphrase-- "No worries, I've got this."
